Job Summary | The newly launched Department of Product Design in the College of Design seeks applicants for a part-time faculty instructor to teach PRD 151: CAD II, the second CAD course of three in the PRD curriculum, during the Spring 21 semester which commences January 25, 2021. The primary software in this course is Autodesk Fusion 360, though students have prior introductory instruction in Rhinoceros. In addition to training students in the use of this CAD package, the instructor should be able to bridge concepts of software skill acquisition with design process; experience with product development utilizing Fusion 360 is preferred. The College of Design has digital fabrication equipment to support physical output from course lessons and learning objectives, including FDM and LFS printers, laser cutters, a CNC router and KUKA robotic arm. This 1-credit, freshman-level course is to be delivered online with potential for select, in-person meetings as may be necessary when reviewing physical outputs from coursework. Course meeting time to be determined based on instructor availability and existing student course schedules. The Department of Product Design offers a BS in Product Design, with a key component of the program being a series of courses shared between Product Design and the also newly launched undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering (BME). This overlap signifies a commitment to the fertile territory of collaboration between the disciplines and the development of products and systems aimed at elevating health-related experiences, from medical devices to healthcare delivery systems.
