Job Summary
The Ophthalmic Assistant – Non-Certified is the entry level position for those wishing to gain ophthalmic technician experience with UK Advanced Eye Care in Ashland, KY. We want to be the preferred provider for subspecialty ophthalmic eye care and optometry, and will train you, on the job, in the various skills and diagnostics required to appropriately care for our patients. We encourage continuing education and eventual certification for our ophthalmic technicians.

This position is expected to demonstrate excellence in customer service, greeting patients in the waiting room and bringing them into the clinic for initial intake and preliminary testing. This position will learn and eventually demonstrate a basic knowledge of the various diagnostics that are used in our practice. In addition, as part of the clinical team, this position will help maintain adequate supplies in the clinic in patient rooms and procedure rooms. We are a fast-paced, patient-centered enterprise and seek to hire individuals who enjoy working in this type of environment.

This position has been identified as supporting UK HealthCare, which receives funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Therefore, all individuals hired into this position must comply with the federal CMS mandate issued in March of 2022. This mandate requires all new hires to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of employment. Start of employment cannot occur until two weeks after receiving the full COVID-19 vaccination series or upon obtaining an approved exemption. Only vaccines approved by the World Health Organization can be accepted.

Preferred Education/Experience
One or more years in customer service and/or healthcare experience preferred.
