Operations Coordinator, Evacuate our Allies Operations Center
The Operations Coordinator executes special high priority projects and information research for the Evacuate Our Allies Operations Center (Ops Center). Evacuate Our Allies (EOA) is a coalition that advances government action and accountability to fulfill promises of safe passage, welcome, and protection for at-risk Afghans following the decades-long U.S. military presence in Afghanistan. The Ops Center is an informational resource for Afghans looking for safe passage, their families and advocates, and other civil society organizations. The Center serves hundreds of organizations across the world and acts as a point of contact between civil society and the United States government. It provides the most up-to-date connections throughout the relocation journey, from safe passage to resettlement.
The Operations Coordinator will assist the Associate Program Manager and Program manager with overseeing and improving the Ops teams processes, workload, and resources, and serve as an additional liaison to key stakeholders in ensuring ongoing relocation for Afghans. At the Program Managers direction, the Operations Coordinator will develop and advance strategies and projects aimed at improving coordination internally within the Ops Center, with EOA organizations and other stakeholders, and between Afghans seeking support and pre- existing stakeholder relationships. They will also oversee the ongoing data submission relationship between the Ops Center and the U.S. Department of State Coordinator for Afghan Relocation Efforts (CARE) team.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage ongoing data collection workflows and submissions between the Ops Center and U.S. Department of State CARE team;
- Work with Program Manager and Associate Program Manager to identify, analyze, and share ongoing relocation and resettlement challenges that affect Afghans to direct new Ops Center activity;
- Manage relationships with coalition and government stakeholders on data collection and identify new processes to streamline Ops Center work;
- Serve as back-up coverage for EOA Operations Assistants for day, night, or swing duty as needed;
- Serve as on call resource for EOA Operations Assistants when Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager are unavailable to answer urgent
- questions or relay pressing requests to US government or NGO stakeholders;
- Support development of SOPs for operations center rapid-response capacities and new-build project activity to apply efforts to other refugee and human rights crises;
- Other duties as requested based on the team and/or organizations needs.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE:
- Degree in public policy, political science, or related field or J.D., and/or at least 3 years of relevant military service, advocacy, crisis response, program management, and/or policy experience
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, excellent political judgment, ability to think strategically, and to work with diverse groups at all levels internally and externally
- Attention to detail and ability to manage data systematically from multiple inputs
- Strong understanding of ongoing U.S.-Afghanistan relocation and policy landscape a plus
- Ability to communicate patiently, respectfully, and empathetically with individuals from a variety of backgrounds as well as survivors of trauma or torture;
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure with limited information and deliver high quality results; to work successfully across organization lines and with a diverse team of colleagues;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and written and spoken communication skills
- Experience working with Afghan newcomers or other refugee populations, or demonstrated commitment to providing culturally competent engagement with these individuals and communities
- Demonstrated interest in Afghanistan relocation or other refugee relocation issues
