Physical Requirements

The essential functions for this position include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds on a daily basis and 25-50 pounds frequently; as well as stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time. The conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases, hazards of radiation, and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.


Must be able to work three, 12 hour 7pm-7:30am shifts/week; with weekends and holidays as required.

Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse Expert (CNE) will provide the necessary guidance, coaching, education and expertise to nursing staff in Pavilion A with an emphasis on Neuroscience services as well as Progressive Care services and beyond. Clinical expertise will flow from Acute Care through Progressive Care as well as through Critical Care. Focus is on these specific areas so that there will be better recognition and response to patient care issues, improved quality of care and opportunity for development of critical thinking skills and global perspective with the novice nurse.
The primary responsibilities for this position is to help new staff in their adjustment to the Neuroscience units, trouble shoot problems, help the new graduate nurse evolve in their role as RN and develop their critical thinking. Has direct link to the Patient Care Manager and reports directly to him/her.
