Job Summary | The Nurse Clinical Ambulatory provides disease specific patient care to a group of patients who have serious acute and/or chronic health events or who are seeking healthcare to maintain their state of wellness. Responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to skilled assessments, care plans and care plan implementation, patient education and clinical evaluation or interventions. This position requires working with medical professionals who are working under time and efficiency constraints in a busy ambulatory care setting with a patient centered care focus on quality, safety, and service. A working knowledge of enterprise, nursing, departmental policies, protocols, and procedures is needed to be successful. The nurse in this position will support daily operations of Pediatric Fatty Liver Program. This clinic cares for children with obesity who have developed non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The program was started in 2019 and is the first multidisciplinary clinic in the state of Kentucky set up with a goal to improve health outcomes in children with NAFLD. The program runs together with High BMI clinic. A successful applicant will be able to work within a large team of providers including a pediatric gastroenterologist, obesity specialist, registered dietician and a clinic coordinator. The position also includes helping with/performing ultrasound based FibroScan and occasionally other tests offered in the clinic such as Inbody scan and 24h blood pressure monitoring. The successful applicant will be ambitious, goal oriented, innovative, and studious individual who is eager to support our dynamic and rapidly growing NAFLD/BMI program. This position has been identified as supporting UK HealthCare, which receives funding from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Therefore, all individuals hired into this position must comply with the federal CMS mandate issued in March of 2022. This mandate requires all new hires to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of employment. Start of employment cannot occur until two weeks after receiving the full COVID-19 vaccination series or upon obtaining an approved exemption. Only vaccines approved by the World Health Organization can be accepted. |
