Department Name 3J5SE: Student Employment
Work Location Lexington, KY
On Campus/Off Campus Off Campus
Salary Range $50
Type of Position Student
Position Time Status Part-Time
Preferred Education/Experience
We would like the student to know the basics about teaching each instrument and most importantly love music. We want our children to learn more about playing instruments and enjoy being introduced to music for the instrument at the same time. The student doesn’t need to be a virtuoso him- or herself.
Hours per Week
Total of 2 hours/week – one half-hour for each child per afternoon, two afternoons/week
Job Summary
You must be a current UK student to apply for this position. This position is located off campus with a local Lexington employer and is not affiliated with UK.

We are looking for a student who is interested in teaching:
1) beginning piano to our seven-year-old son
2) beginning guitar to our ten-year-old son

The student needs to have a car to come to our house. We would like the student to teach each child for 1/2 hour each on two afternoons/week over the summer (there are three separate weeks when we will be on vacation.) We would pay the student $50/hour for each child. If this requires two students who can arrange their schedules to coincide for the same afternoon/hours, that would be fine too.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
The student should really enjoy music him- or her-self, whether a music major or not. He/she must also be comfortable working with/teaching young children who may learn at their own pace in getting familiar with each instrument. The student will need to have his/her own transportation to and from our house.
