## **Job Description**

The main focus of this position will be:


* Develop the mechatronic modules or sub-assemblies when given higher level module or sub-system requirements;


* Derive lower level requirements and designs for mounted optics and mechatronic positioning and measurement devices;


* Generate models or simulations in Advanced Simulation in Matlab and Simulink that analyze expected performance which can be used to drive a multi-discipline team to an optimal solution;


* Prototype testing using XPC Target or equivalent desired;


* Dynamic modelling of Module response to external disturbances;


* Basic knowledge of heat transfer and thermal dynamics desired;


* Knowledge of Robotics and robot controls highly desirable;


* Knowledge of position and presence sensors operation and use highly desirable;


* Experience in design and implementation of servo control systems;


* Minimum travel required (~ 5%) to Europe, Asia, and within the US.




## **Education**

Minimum MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on mechatronic systems (preferred) / mechanics / dynamics is required or equivalent experience. Experience in system design and analysis is required. A second degree in physics, mathematics, or other engineering disciplines is highly desirable




## **Experience**

Five to ten years of industry experience in mechatronics / opto-mechanical development:


* Candidate should have direct experience in the design and test of mechatronic systems preferably in the area of optical element positioning in precision optical equipment;


* Candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment, with suppliers and co-developers to ensure timely realization of competitive, high precision, complex components;


* Experience in the following areas are required: Matlab and Simulink, servo design / tuning, actuator design / selection, robot control;


* Experience in the following areas are a Plus: CAD, thermal analysis, opto-mechanical mounting, adhesives, materials, FEA, or other modeling tools;

* Candidate must have excellent communicative skills, both written and verbal


* Candidate must have a strong leadership and drive the development to a quality result, able to "lead”, not just, “manage” a team


* Must have excellent commitment and multi-tasking skills

* Ability to interface with multidisciplinary groups


* Willingness to take on responsibility, follow through and keep multiple simultaneous assignments on schedule.


* Relevant knowledge in mechatronics and manufacturing process development necessary.


* Understanding ASML WOW, including KD process, and management principles desirable


* Understands needs of internal customer (project) and acts effectively on these needs


* Recognizes contribution of individual team members


* Is able to lead collaborative problem solving session with design engineers


* Good planning and analytical skills
