TICO is an equipment logistics solutions company that has been in business since 1946. While based out of Savannah, TICO has locations throughout the coastal and interior United States. We are looking for Mechanics of all skill levels for our Charleston, SC location as we are currently expanding.

Pay is commensurate on your experience. At a minimum, applicants should have basic experience/knowledge regarding general vehicle maintenance.  Diesel and heavy truck experience is a plus and on-the-job training is available for everyone who shows interest in learning more. Even if you have very little experience but this is something you have a passion to learn, try us.


Some of the different types of equipment worked on includes jockey trucks, over-the-road trucks, trailers, forklifts and automobiles. So theres sure to be something youd enjoy working on!



You must:

       Pass a background check

       Possess a valid drivers license

       Have or be willing to acquire tools




ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Read job orders, technical service bulletins, and benchmarked standards given by the manufacturer, and observe and listen to truck in operation to determine malfunction, and plan work procedures using charts, technical manuals and experience.  Importance must be placed on troubleshooting the problem with accuracy in order to avoid returns.

  • Perform complete routine, diagnostic, and post-repair inspections on vehicles, not limited to, and including check of fluid levels, electrical and computer systems, tire pressures, and examination for any damage, and notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment, and corrective action taken.

  • Perform regular servicing and maintenance of equipment, maintaining related service records.

  • Inspect, adjust, and repair air brakes.

  • Inspect protective guards, locate loose bolts, examine specified safety devices on all vehicles, and make adjustments or replacements as needed.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment, as appropriate.

  • Inspect and troubleshoot engines, transmissions and differentials for internal failures.

  • Utilizing Company maintenance facility, remove and replace major equipment components, including engines, transmissions, rear-end differentials, axles and cabs, and rebuild engines and differentials as necessary.

  • Repair damaged body and fenders by hammering out, welding, and/or replacing damaged parts. 

  • Perform complete routine, diagnostic, and post-repair inspections on transport trailers, pro shuttle trailers, and bomb carts for any damage, and notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment, and corrective action taken. 

  • Align wheels, and change tires as needed.

  • Repair, overhaul hydraulic, and air brake systems.

  • Tune engines by setting overhead, removing and replacing fuel pumps, injection pumps and injectors.

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, electronic and computer systems, hydraulic systems, and water pumps.

  • Replace /repair parts when necessary.  Replace and adjust headlights, and install and repair accessories such as heaters, mirrors, and windshield wipers.  Replace/ repair, and adjust axles and bearings.  Replace/repair airlines, chamber, and trailer valves as needed.  Replace wheel seals as required.

  • Set up equipment and weld metal parts using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes. Weld repairs in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.

  • Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.

  • Comply with all established industry safety norms and other quality measures while conducting work processes.

  • Perform test drive to ensure equipment is functioning properly.

  • Drive automobile or service truck to industrial and other sites in order to provide services and respond to emergency services.

  • Document work hours, parts utilized, and work performed.

  • Comply with company/agency safety regulations, and maintain a clean and orderly work area.  Wear required personal protection equipment during the performance of job duties.
