Job Summary:
The Location Director oversees all academic, administrative, and support functions at their location. These include, but are not limited to: manage and maintain location physical facilities and resources; serve as liaison with appropriate local, private, state, and military installations and federal agencies; and comply with local, state and federal regulations and laws. This position will serve as an official representative of the College in the communities where their location resides.
The Location Director will hire, schedule, and appraise adjunct faculty and non-teaching staff; and conduct outreach, plan and implement marketing strategies to enhance brand awareness in the community. They will recruit, convert, retain and graduate Columbia College students.
This position will ensure the delivery of timely accurate academic advising and student services in accordance with Columbia College policies and procedures and is fiscally responsible for managing operational and payroll budgets in compliance with location school year budget projects. Based on location, other duties may apply.

- Strategically plan and manage location budget in accordance with Columbia College financial guidelines.
- Provide input/feedback to Regional Director and the Associate Vice Presidents for Columbia College Global regarding projected income and expenditures.
- Ensure that invoices/bills submitted for payment are processed according to Business Office guidelines in a timely manner. Submit all expense reports in a timely manner as well.
- Manage and maintain location physical facilities and resources including all technological equipment.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Faculty Performance and Management
- Ability to hire and retain a pool of adjunct faculty who are qualified to teach approved Columbia College curricular courses according to guidelines established by Academic Affairs.
- Provide at least two faculty professional development opportunities each year for the purpose of keeping faculty abreast of current educational/instructional methods and trends as well as Columbia College policies and procedures.
- Ensure effective initial and ongoing training for all faculty appropriate for their role, responsibilities, individual needs, and desired outcomes. This includes both coordination with and engagement in the training teams efforts and location-specific training.
- Ensure that faculty have access to all forms, supplies, policies, procedures, resources, and computer systems needed to perform all tasks successfully.
- Identify and encourage adjunct faculty to participate in annual Faculty Integration Conferences conducted at the main campus.
- Conduct regular class observations to engage in periodic adjunct faculty instructional evaluations. Provide appropriate coaching or remediation as needed for faculty who do not meet performance expectations.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Staff Performance Management and Leadership
- Lead and provide supervision to all full and part-time staff at the location. Conduct annual performance appraisals as directed by Human Resources in addition to frequent on-going performance management activities as needed throughout the entire year.
- Ensure effective initial and ongoing training for all team members appropriate for their role, responsibilities, individual needs, and desired outcomes. This includes both coordination with and engagement in the training teams efforts and location-specific training.
- Ensure that team members have access to all forms, supplies, policies, procedures, resources, and computer systems needed to perform all tasks successfully.
- Oversee the execution of all weekly, daily, and ongoing tasks according to the time frames described in the Semester Management Plan.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Community Outreach/Public Relations/Marketing
- Manage operations in accordance with established guidelines and requirements to include, but not be limited to, memorandums of understanding/agreements, educational service agreements, leases, and partnership agreements.
- Serve as local college liaison with appropriate private, state and federal agencies. Inform the Regional Director and Associate Vice Presidents for Columbia College Global of any adjustments that may be required in accordance with Columbia College policy and procedures to comply with changes in local law or regulations.
- Engage in community outreach, networking and service activities as appropriate to develop long-term partnerships with business and local entities. Join and participate in organizations like chambers of commerce, as appropriate.
- Oversee the management of all public relations activities, including location newsletters, location social media accounts, and press releases, in coordination with the Public Relations Office.
- Coordinate the development and execution of the local marketing/outreach plan to enhance brand awareness, recruitment and retention of students in cooperation with the Marketing Office.
- Assist and support fundraising endeavors and alumni engagement as coordinated by the Development and Alumni Relations offices.

- Monitor development and delivery of curriculum and academic programs approved for and offered at location in coordination with appropriate staff.
- Ensure existing degrees and course-mix offerings are appropriate for local community needs. Identify and recommend potential new courses and/or areas of study that reflect current changes to those needs.
- Based on the academic degrees approved for the location, develop and implement a flexible annual class rotation plan to accommodate existing student population needs as well as newly admitted students. Classes should include an appropriate mix of in-seat, webinar, and on-site virtual classroom offerings. Locations that are in the same regional area should work cooperatively to maximize class enrollments through cross-listing, which also increases the variety of courses available to students at those locations.
- Ensure adequate classroom resources and equipment are available to successfully carry out curriculum planning.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Academic Advising and Support
- Must be current on all advising processes and be able to advise students. Ensure adequate student advising is offered, to include degree declaration, course selection, class load management, satisfactory academic progress, financial aid options, military and veteran funding/VA issues, and other areas of academic and student support. Ensure students are aware of all other Columbia College student services which are available including counseling, career development, and support for accommodations.
- Support all tutoring and testing activities for Columbia College students as needed.
- Ensure sufficient online Columbia College and local library resources are available for student and faculty use to support course and curriculum offerings.
- Conduct annual commencement ceremony at local site, in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
- Represent location at main campus commencement ceremonies as required by AVP. Coordinate special location events including honors ceremonies, and student, staff and faculty appreciation events.
- Coordinate and implement the review of all student grade appeal requests, Withdrawal Excused requests, academic suspension appeal requests, financial aid appeal requests, and other special academic requests according to defined policies and procedures.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Student Services and Support
- Ensure student outreach activities conducted by advising staff are meeting the goals for student retention and persistence within established Columbia College protocols.
- Ensure all required testing activities are carried out according to appropriate policies and procedures this includes placement testing, online midterms and finals proctoring, and, where applicable, CLEP, DSST and other external testing agencies contracted by the location.
- Ensure prospective student outreach activities conducted by advising staff are meeting recruiting and conversion enrollment goals as defined by the annual budget.
- Maintain current and accurate hard copy and/or electronic files of Columbia College correspondence, student records, academic records, VA records, and personnel files in accordance with all College, Veterans Administration, state, federal, and accreditation guidelines.
