The Department of Computer Science in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics at Eastern Washington University invites applications for multiple lecturer positions in Computer Science to begin September 2020.

Candidates hired for our Lecturer positions will be expected to teach undergraduate coursework in areas of need, which could include but are not limited to computing ethics, computer programming, data structures, algorithms, performance analysis, networks, computer architectures, information systems and software engineering, database, cyber security, operating systems, 3D graphics programming, computational informatics, senior project, and senior capstone.

Candidates must demonstrate interest, experience and/or ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to diverse needs, including universal accessibility, of our students, faculty, staff
and the public.

Eastern Washington University is a midsize regional, comprehensive institution offering high-quality liberal arts and professional undergraduate and graduate programs in Cheney, Spokane, and elsewhere in Washington State. The Department of Computer Science, founded in 1984, offers academic programs leading to bachelor's and master's degrees: the ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS), the Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS), the Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS), and the Master of Computer Science in Professional Computer Science (MCS).

In Fall 2020, the Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Engineering programs will move from the main campus in Cheney to a new 140,000-square-foot facility in downtown Spokane's University District. This facility is a public-private partnership with the regional tech industry to create a high-tech hub for innovation and entrepreneurship. It will offer our students and faculty outstanding new opportunities for collaboration with regional industry and other universities. Through their faculty career with Eastern's Computer Science Department, the successful candidate will exploit the creative and intellectual opportunities made possible through these partnerships.

Conditions of Employment

This position will initially be located on Eastern's main campus in Cheney, WA. The department will move to the new Catalyst Building adjacent to downtown Spokane, with the move projected to take place in August 2020. All faculty and staff (including this position) will be required to move to the new building, with the possibility that faculty may also need to teach a few classes on the Cheney campus (campuses are 20 minutes driving time from each other).
