Lead Wireless Network Research Engineer

Role Summary:As a Lead Wireless Network Research Engineer, you will have the opportunity to design, architect and implement novel networking and wireless connectivity solutions. You will lead and contribute to R&D programs aligned with GEs businesses as well as with U.S. Government Agencies such as DOD, DHS and DOE to solve some of the worlds toughest challenges. The technologies developed under these programs will be matured and transitioned into GE business products.

Essential Responsibilities:You will have the opportunity to:













+ Work in an interdisciplinary team of Researchers to help transition wireless communication and networking concepts from early stage lab demonstrations to fieldable prototypes.



+ Work with U.S. Government Agencies to shape winning proposals and lead projects that will create innovative solutions in wireless communication and networking.



+ Collaborate with universities, industrial consortiums, commercial partners and others to advance the state of the art in 5G, wireless communication and networking.



+ Participate in IEEE, ISA and other relevant standards bodies to help drive connectivity solutions to support GE business needs.



+ Publish technical papers, file patents, and contribute to open source communities.







Qualifications/Requirements:



+ Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines with a minimum of 3 years of industry experience OR Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines with a minimum of 7 years of industry experience OR Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or related disciplines with a minimum of 11 years of industry experience.



+ Experience in the design, implementation, and testing of wireless connectivity solutions including: 5G, WiFi, millimeter wave, massive MIMO, software defined radio, or cognitive radio.





+ Hands-on experience in the design and implementation of at least one OSI layer (1 through 4).



+ Experience in programming languages and tools such as: C, C++, Python,

MATLAB/Simulink, or Genesys.



+ Experience in network simulation tools such as: NS3, QualNet, or OPNET



+ Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals at the Masters or Bachelors level for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
