Lead Network Engineer

Role Summary:The Lead Network Engineer will provide technical support for all GE MDS customers, partners, integrators and employees on GEMDS products and their applications, including direct / remote support and training.

Essential Responsibilities:

+ On-site support, field analysis and troubleshooting (Diagnostics/Configuration/Commissioning)

+ Provide pre-sale and post-sale customer support via online meetings, web conferencing, videoconferencing applications, telephone and email support

+ Follow through with issue resolution of product and system level technical problems and system design requirements

+ Communicate with all areas of GE MDS in supporting partners, integrators and customers, including Sales, Technology, Product Services, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, etc. to resolve customer technical issues

+ Perform root cause analysis for problem resolution

+ Train and maintain training development on a variety of GE MDS products and applications

+ Conduct training classes for partners, integrators and customers for both domestic and international, as well as with staff and other departments, within GE MDS


+ Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college (OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in services)

+ Minimum of 2 years of experience with RF communications systems, system-level design, and troubleshooting concepts

+ Minimum of 2 years of field technical support experience

+ Minimum of 1 year networking experience


+ Ability and willingness to travel 30% of the time, both domestically and internationally

+ Ability and willingness to support 24 / 7 phone support as needed for specific customers

+ Ability and willingness to be accessible after normal business hours when required

+ Ability and willingness to work in various, moderately challenging field environments

Desired Characteristics:

+ Cisco certificates in networking, specifically CCNA, CCNP or CCIE in routing and switching

+ Analytical skills / broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to respond to / deal with technical and customer-relations issues

+ Experience designing, implementing and optimizing network-management systems using standardized NMS methods (i.e., SNMP)

+ Experience designing and integrating microwave point-to-point or point-to-multipoint systems

+ Direct experience with TCP / IP network design, routing, integration and troubleshooting

+ Excellent knowledge of point-to-point and point-to-multipoint communications systems

+ Working knowledge of TCP / IP, ethernet communications, and networking concepts

+ Advanced system and application level troubleshooting skills

+ Advanced trouble shooting skills on Network and RF issues

+ Understanding of RTU and PLC operation

+ Basic project management skills

+ International travel experience

+ Second language fluency
