Role Summary:The Performance CoE Tools & Methods team is seeking a Lead engineer to support the development of thermodynamic performance modelling tools & methods focused around gas turbines. This is an exciting opportunity that blends engineering and software skills to develop tools that are the brains behind the business growth. The role gives an opportunity to become technically skilled in system level thermodynamic performance and software development.

Essential Responsibilities: Advance state-of-the-art performance modeling of gas turbine by leveraging industry best practices.

Expand capabilities of steady-state performance prediction tools such as Gas Turbine Performance (GTP).

Improve and implement next generation user experience for performance tools using web-based technologies.

Map, understand, and streamline GT Performance & Operability processes through enhanced methods development.

Develop & improve performance tools using data analytics

Work with a cross functional team to understand product requirements & vision

Engage subject matter experts in successful transfer of complex domain knowledge

Engage in technical discussions; participate in technical designs and present technical ideas through white boarding

Work closely with your peers and keep engaging in a fast pace technical design and development team

Execute in a fast pace delivery mode and focus in delivering tasks to meet the product release goal

Maintain code quality through best practices, unit testing and code quality automation

Seek and provide feedback on design and development

Be an expert in core data structures as well as algorithms and has the ability to implement them using language of choice

Be responsible for providing technical leadership and defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment

Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelors/Masters in Mechanical/Chemical/Energy Engineering/Technology.

3-5 years of engineering experience in power generation systems or equivalent

Basic understanding of software programming in one or more of the following languages: Fortran, C#, C++, VB, JAVA, Python.

Basic understanding of NPSS modelling of an aircraft engine.

Conversant in thermodynamic modelling of power plant using GateCycle/Ebsilon/Thermoflow.

Desired Characteristics: MS or PhD engineering degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Energy Engineering

Design experience in gas turbine, steam turbine or combined cycle product development or controls development

Ability to learn new programming languages quickly

Familiarity with Agile practices

Understanding of web-based development tools

SQL and data analytic skills

Strong problem-solving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments

Expert in breaking down problems and estimate time for development tasks

Demonstrates clarity of thinking to work through limited information and vague problem definitions

Influences through others; builds direct and "behind the scenes" support for ideas

Proactively identifies and removes project obstacles or barriers on behalf of the team

Shares knowledge, power, and credit, establishing trust, credibility, and goodwill Personal Attributes

Able to work under minimal supervision

Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with senior leadership with confidence and clarity

Able to work well with global teams, including time-zone flexibility

Skilled in providing oversight and mentoring team members. Shows ability to effectively delegate work
