Lead Controls and Operability Engineer Wind, LC Segment

Role Summary:GE is looking for key engineers to develop a new segment within its Wind business where innovation and entrepreneurship are essential elements.

The Lead Controls and Operability Engineer will be an integral part of the wind turbine design process and will contribute to the optimization of the product performance and costs.

Essential Responsibilities:



+ Design and tune the controller to optimize the turbine performance and operation, while assessing the results through software-in-the loop simulations.



+ Support application & requisition engineering teams, providing solutions to enhance application space in close collaboration with Loads and simulation engineers.

- Provide wind turbine controls expertise through all phases of product development, from early design till the final deployment.



+ Provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external customers.



+ Write technical documentation, deliver presentations, attend technical design reviews.

















Other responsibilities are:







+ Develop and enhance control strategies and algorithm that help optimizing the wind turbine loads and performance.



+ Support the certification process along the chain from simulation to experimental validation.



+ Contributes to continuous improvement in methods and tools for Control design.









Qualifications/Requirements:



+ MS or BS Degree in relevant Engineering field (Control & Automation, Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronic Engineering, etc.)



+ Knowledge of controls system theory, design and applications, preferably for Wind Turbines or other industrial application (aerospace, automotive, transportation, energy systems).



+ Experience in first principle modelling, control requirements definition and translation into design.



+ Proficiency in Wind turbine aero elastic simulations (Flex5, GH-GL Bladed, Simpack, etc.)



+ Proficiency in MATLAB - Simulink

- Fluent in English (spoken and written)

















>If contracted in Spain:



Non-national candidates are responsible to know the minimum documentation requirements to be able to be contracted in country: NIE- Social Security Affiliation Number in Spain (NAF) and Bank Account in Spain. They must be in possession of them at the time of start hiring. GE will not sponsor this requirement.

+ Team player with strong communication skills.
