Description

The Federation of State Medical Boards is currently looking for a Law Clerk to join our team in Washington, DC.  The position will entail assisting the Chief Legal Officer with issues related to telehealth, health care regulation, and Covid-19 related projects. The law clerk will be expected to be an integral part of FSMB taskforce projects and assist the CLO in research and analysis of legal and regulatory issues related to these projects. Projects may include drafting position statements, preparing comparative legal analyses of federal and state regulatory standards, and assisting in development of regulatory infrastructure and framework. The Law Clerk will also assist with the FSMB’s state and federal advocacy work on a variety of regulatory and healthcare related issues.

The position will be located in the Washington, DC office, with remote work possibility. Position expected to be 8-10 weeks, with potential extension to part-time opportunities after August 31.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
  • \t
  • Law student currently in their second year of an accredited law school
  • \t
  • An interest in healthcare, especially regulatory aspects of digital health, telemedicine, artificial intelligence,
  • \t
  • Work in a state or federal regulatory agency, law firm, consulting firm, or healthcare setting, a plus but not required
  • \t
  • Experience or interest in incorporating digital approaches throughout the regulatory process a plus, but not required
  • \t
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, co-workers, and external parties
  • \t
  • Ability to meet deadlines and make effective decisions
  • \t
  • Ability to multi-task, work effectively under pressure, and be flexible
  • \t
  • Ability to work with limited or remote supervision
  • \t
  • Proficient with Microsoft software applications, legal research databases such as LexisNexis® or Westlaw®, as well as comfort using digital communications platforms
