Required License/Registration/Certification
Completion of an accredited classroom training program for medical interpreting requiring at least 40 hours of credit. Establishment of Language Proficiency in English and the target language. Medical Interpreting Certification within a year of hire.
Physical Requirements
The conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases, and radiation, and injury for intractable patients and sharp objects. This job requires some standing, walking, and sitting for long periods of time.
Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm with some flexibility for patient care needs.
Job Summary
The Language Interpreter II will provide Japanese interpretation services for UK Healthcare (UKHC), primarily for main Lexington HealthCare campus sites. This position will accurately convey information between patient and provider; manage the flow of communication to maintain accuracy; facilitate rapport between the provider & patient; recognize & address instances that require intercultural inquiry to ensure accurate & complete understanding; and provide interpretation of policies, procedures, consents, directions, & instructions. These duties enable patients and families to effectively communicate in a language they understand which allows UKHC to achieve optimal patient outcomes. This position also helps UK Healthcare meet federal and Joint Commission requirements for language access.

A complete application will include language proficiency documentation and interpreter training documentation/certification uploaded as Specific Requests 1 & 2.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Documented proficiency in English and Japanese required.
