Physical Requirements

Able to both stand and sit for extended periods of time, climb ladders, lift 35 lbs, be able to drive.


Typically Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., possible alternating day, evening, weekend shifts.

Job Summary

The UK Center for Applied Energy Research (CAER) is seeking a full time laboratory technician to perform routine laboratory analyses, including carbon loading and alkalinity titrations and chemical/physical property measurements including but not limited to surface tension, density, and viscosity with accuracy and precision. Time will be spent working in CAER’s labs in Lexington, in addition to a field laboratory at Kentucky Utilities E.W. Brown Power Station in Harrodsburg. Travel between CAER and KU’s power station will be required on a weekly or more frequent basis [potentially on a daily basis for concerted periods]. Due to compelling public safety requirements, this position requires pre-employment drug screening and periodic drug/alcohol testing during the period of work at KU’s power station. The successful candidate must be able to drive, be proficient in MS Word and Excel and be client-focused.
