General Overview


The office of investment is responsible for the management of Rotarys investment funds and portfolios.  Rotarys investment funds and portfolios include assets of the Foundation of approximately $1 billion split into an endowment fund of $400 million, an operating fund of $500 million, a reserve of $50 million, charitable assets of $30 million, and affiliated Foundation assets of $20 million; Rotary International has an investment portfolio of approximately $90 million.


 


The Investment Analyst, Operations and Administration will work closely with the Chief Investment Officer and other team members to manage and administer Rotarys investment funds to achieve the investment objectives.  The Investment Analyst, Operations and Administration performs a variety of important functions to support the office of investment and will be involved in all aspects of managing and administering Rotarys investment funds.


 



Education and Qualifications



  • A minimum of three years of related work experience in an endowment, foundation, plan sponsor, insurance company, family office, asset manager, custodian bank or institutional consulting work place

  • Bachelors degree

  • Eligible to work in the US without sponsorship or restrictions



 



Knowledge and Skills



  • Strong quantitative, analytical, technical, and communication skills

  • Financial and investment data and ask relevant questions

  • Basic knowledge of and interest in capital markets, investments and related quantitative areas

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a small team

  • Familiarity with risk management techniques

  • Prior experience in environment of Investment accounting and performance measurement a plus

  • Must be able to clearly and concisely articulate and communicate recommendations in writing and verbally

  • Unquestioned integrity, common sense, superior intellectual capabilities and the personal qualities needed to foster a collegial, team effort in the office of investment

  • Proficiency with specific software packages and ability to manipulate spreadsheets

  • Data visualization and mapping

  • Time management

  • Programming language such as Python and/or R is a plus

  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and multi-task multiple projects and meet deadlines




 



Specific Duties



  • Implement and continually improve the back-office infrastructure and processes necessary to effectively manage Rotarys investment funds.

  • Oversee the relationship with the custodian banks and investment accounting produced by custodians; research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner to close accounting books.

  • Support a range of investment and risk analytics involving data analysis, data transmission, scrubbing, mapping and visualization.

  • Develop and implement reporting tools and templates.

  • Responsible for performing certain parts of the trade operations cycle including entering trade orders, reconciling trade and cash flow activity and other related activities

  • Responsible for collection, input and analysis of investment portfolio data and all other pertinent information for the calculation of investment returns, analysis and reporting and investment accounting for investment portfolios.

  • Develop and maintain work papers and documentation to support the preparation of investments schedules, reports, analysis, and to comply with internal controls.

  • Create and maintain strategy, manager and portfolio rate of return composites and same for benchmarks

  • Prepare periodic cash projections to facilitate management of investment cash balances and transaction planning.

  • Prepare transaction plans for review to rebalance portfolios or fund new investments.

  • Produce and analyze reports detailing the cash forecast, asset allocation, investment positioning, liquidity, and investment performance across multiple investment portfolios.

  • Support annual audit of investments by preparing required audit schedules, and providing information, reports and files to internal and external parties and assisting with production of financial statement footnotes.

  • Other duties as may be assigned.
