Instructional Design Content Developer
About the Position
The Instructional Design Content Developer works with instructional designers, trainers, subject matter experts and business owners to research and develop instructional content. Responsible for supporting the Learning and Development Team in developing the skills and knowledge of its staff. Researches, writes, edits and reviews material to be used in training programs.
Normal Day-to-Day Work
- Conceptualize, research, design, develop learning curriculum and printed material for instructor-led training and eLearning.
- Work with Instructional Design team and stakeholders to formulate training approaches and material to build courses that meet defined objectives, take advantage of learning technology and build powerful learning solutions that combine solid design, rapid development and creative delivery.
- Build strong working relationships with business leaders, subject matter experts, and stakeholders to conduct research, needs assessments and develop performance-based learning content.
- Create, review and edit a variety of content types, including video scripts, team communications, course-specific resources, surveys, and tests/quizzes using standard development processes and templates.
- Creates quality standards and design to ensure they are maintained during the design, development and revision of all courses.
- Manage and maintain the editing process ensuring quality organization, grammar, content, technical accuracy, and style to maintain uniform style. Apply editorial principles to the content paying close attention to detail.
- Remain current on new developments in technical writing, editing and publishing, including technological enhancements.
Job Qualifications
Here are a few skills you MUST have to be considered for this position.
- 1 to 3 years of experience researching, writing and editing content in a professional environment.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to function in a Consumer business office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, copier, telephone, etc.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. (file boxes, computer printer).
- Travel required on occasion.
Here are a few qualifications we'd LIKE you to have to make you more suited for this position.
- Bachelor's or Associates degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Business Writing, Journalism or related field.
- In-depth understanding of adult learning principles with a sound comprehension of instructional design and various training methodologies (e.g., lecture, case studies, role plays, tests, etc.).
- Experience using learning development tools, such as learning management systems, Adobe Captivate, Articulate, GoAnimate, etc.
