Currently seeking a Full-time Information System Security Officer (ISSO) working with Progeny Systems (https://www.progeny.net), headquartered in Manassas VA. The role includes providing Cybersecurity support to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems operating in classified and unclassified environments. Individual must be capable of supporting Risk Management Framework (RMF) compliance functions that include preparation of RMF documentation, performing system updates, DISA STIG implementation, performing vulnerability scans/assessments, and managing system level artifacts.
AN ACTIVE DOD SECURITY CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- The ISSO will develop risk management plans, analyze security architectures, and create information system security policies and procedures
- Information system accreditations and certifications
- Continuous monitoring as it pertains to RMF
- DISA STIG compliance
- Vulnerability management
- System auditing
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required skills and experience:
- Experience with vulnerability scanning, vulnerability remediation, and secure configurations support (i.e. DISA STIGS, ACAS, and SRGs)
- Experience with Windows and Linux (i.e., knowledge of Windows/Linux admin commands and functions)
- Knowledge of STIG and SCAP tools
- Management of RMF artifacts
- Experience with Cyber Command mandates such as Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs)
- Support the development and maintenance of technical documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Development, evaluation, and integration of computer systems and networks to maintain system security for classified information systems
- Evaluate hardware to ensure the use of approved products from the appropriate Information Assurance (IA) approved products list
- Support the Information System Security Manager with system accreditation/re-accreditation process
- Manage all security aspects of the information system and perform day-to-day security operations of the system
- Propose, coordinate, implement, and enforce information systems security policies, standards, and methodologies
- Demonstrate a strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles and DoD requirements relevant to the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems operating in a classified environment
- Ensure Configuration Management (CM) for security-related IS software, hardware, network diagrams, and firmware is maintained and documented
Recommended skills and experience:
- Experience developing, editing, and auditing cyber security policies, plans, and procedures for government systems and programs
- Knowledge and experience working with technologies such as Linux, Microsoft Windows, and IP networking
- Knowledge and experience working with NIST 800-53 and NIST 800-171 security controls and the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC)
- Experience with enhanced DoD security controls for government networks including the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), Host-Based Security System (HBSS), Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG), and Secure Host baseline (SHB)
- Experience, training, and certification requirements required by DoD 8570.01/Information Assurance Manager (IAM) Level II or III. (Security +, CISSP, etc.)
- Ability to work both independently and with a team while supporting the needs of many different programs
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience within the DoD environment
AN ACTIVE DOD SECURITY CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED
Physical and Mental Requirements for all positions:
Prolonged stationary periods at a desk
General ability to operate computer and other productivity machinery such as calculator, copy machine, printer, etc.
Ability to lift and transport up to 15 pounds at times
Effectively communicate with others
Ability to stay focused and provide attention to detail.
Ability to think analytically and apply problem solving skills to scenarios throughout the course of the workday
