Position Summary:
Responsible for diagnosis, repair and maintenance of HVAC equipment at all Library branches.
Job Description
- Diagnoses and repairs HVAC equipment, including related plumbing and electrical components.
- Performs routine preventative maintenance, such as changing filters and belts, lubricating equipment, replacing motors and valves and cleaning equipment and mechanical rooms.
- Compiles material lists required for the task.
- Picks up materials and supplies from vendors and other Library branches.
- Maintains equipment logs and completes work order paperwork.
- On call, as scheduled, during off-hours for emergency response and snow removal.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Required Skills
- Must have a valid drivers license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Must have an active Refrigerant Certification.
- Ability to climb up/down from the cab or bed of a motor vehicle, such as a pickup, cube or flatbed stake truck.
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to push/pull fully loaded materials hauling equipment, such as two wheelers, pallet jacks and hand trucks.
- Ability to operate mechanical equipment such as a forklift, man lift or pallet mover.
- Ability to climb and work from stepladders, extension ladders, scaffolding and lifts up to 24 feet.
- Ability to handle and work proficiently with manual and powered tools and equipment, such as hand tools, electricians and plumbers tools, gauges and meters.
- Ability to operate office equipment, including computers.
- Ability to organize work, meet deadlines and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Education
- Undergraduate degree, technical/trade school certification, or completion of registered apprenticeship program in HVAC related field.
- Must have an active Refrigerant Certification.
- Three years experience in the HVAC service field.
Hours
- 40 Hours per week
- On call, as scheduled, during off-hours for emergency response and snow removal.
Salary
Grade 6: $18.39 - $26.85 per hour
