Major Responsibilities:

The Graphic Designer provides hands-on design, branding, layout, creative and production services for print and digital publications and projects. The designer works with all MTA divisions and also provides creative support for local associations as required, collaborating on projects at all stages to meet the MTAs mission and strategic intent.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide creative expertise in all aspects of branding and design.
  • Work collaboratively with representatives of MTA divisions and locals on all assigned projects.
  • Provide design/production services for MTA Today, association websites, social media sites, handbooks, event and conference materials, direct-mail pieces, newsletters and numerous other publications, both print and electronic.
  • Provide strategic creative input for all association-level print and digital materials.
  • Design, lay out and coordinate production of booklets, brochures, fliers, graphics, logos, stickers, buttons, signs and an array of other items for general association branding and specific campaigns.
  • Work with representatives of all divisions to prepare materials for printing and other forms of distribution.
  • Coordinate printing/production to meet tight deadlines and ensure quality of materials produced.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Design and layout association print publications and materials.
  • Design and produce digital materials for websites and electronic newsletters.
  • Design logos and branding materials for campaigns, locals and other projects and entities.
  • Prepare photographs for print and digital publication.
  • Help select photographs and graphics for MTA Today and other publications.
  • Prepare all types of files for press production and digital use.
  • Work collaboratively with the MTA print shop and outside vendors.
  • Design and produce materials for use by local associations.
  • Propose and develop themes for materials to be used in MTA campaigns.
  • Propose and develop themes for materials to be used at MTA events.
  • Design and produce files for promotional materials (e.g., buttons, T-shirts, signs, stickers).
  • Design and ensure efficient production of business cards, mail pieces and other materials.
  • Design and produce illustrations and infographics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Five years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated command of Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat.
  • Demonstrated expertise in preparing photographs, designing logos and creating branding strategies for print and digital use.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality materials of all types for print and digital use.
  • College degree, with preference for concentration in graphic design, or comparable experience.
  • Ability to learn and use work-flow procedures (e.g., merges) for rapid production of direct- mail pieces, business cards and other materials.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Thorough knowledge of grammar and strong writing ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and produce high-quality publications and other graphics projects.
  • High-level organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while adapting to changing priorities in a demanding work environment.
