Position Summary
The Grant and Annual Fund Manager is responsible for contributed revenue streams focused on grant and annual campaigns. Contributed revenue allows the Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast (GSWISE) to achieve its mission and maximize its impact on the communities we serve. This position requires an enthusiastic fundraiser, who is highly skilled in writing. Someone with the ability to manage several projects, while showcasing a critical eye for detail, and meeting deadlines. This is a full-time position located at Milwaukee.
Compensation
Annual starting salary range is $50,000-$56,000, commensurate with experience and skillset.
What You'll Do
Grant Work (45%):
- Manage current portfolio of foundations.
- Draft and finalize all grant requests.
- Manage all grant reports and updates.
- Partner with the Chief Development Officer to maintain and manage key United Way relationships.
- Collaborate with key programming staff to ensure that grants are correctly representing current programming.
- Manage requests to other departments so that funders receive all needed materials in a timely manner; including data, budget, and narratives.
- Run evaluations on the effectiveness and impact of grants pipeline.
- Continue to solicit and search for new and upcoming grant opportunities.
- Manage grant accounts and database, ensuring all information is current and accessible.
Annual Fund (35%):
- Oversee and implement small annual campaigns including LYBUNT and seasonal campaigns. Including:
- Drafting timelines
- List building
- Creation of e-mail and print pieces
- Sending campaigns
- Reviewing impact of campaigns
- Create and manage regular annual touch points with donors.
- Oversee invoicing and donor communication.
- Work closely with the Marketing and Communication department to develop donor cultivation and solicitation.
- Support the major fundraising event, with a special focus on donor communication leading up to the event.
- Keep donor records up to date and track annual fund communication in donor database.
Philanthropy Department Support (20%):
- Support general fundraising efforts in coordination with the Chief Development Officer.
- Work in partnership with the Chief Development Officer to develop, manage, and analyze weekly and monthly reports to ensure reconciliation with the GSWISE Finance team and departmental goals.
- In collaboration with the Development Associate keep the donor database updated.
- Stay updated on the local philanthropic community.
- Learn and support the Girl Scout mission and effort, staying updated on current programming and organizational goals.
- Organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines, and following up with a minimum of direction.
- Engage in learning to build skills towards respectfully interacting with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, and races.
- Actively contribute to a more equitable and inclusive organization.
- Contributes towards the effectiveness of council AA/EEO guidelines by acquiring knowledge and understanding of affirmative action by exhibiting nondiscriminatory behavior in all internal and external relationships.
- Willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
Who You Are & Keys to Success
- Willing to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout Program and enroll as a Girl Scout member which includes paying a nominal membership fee annually.
- A minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience and proven effectiveness in professional fundraising including grant and/or annual fundraising work.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, marketing, non-profit management, education, or a related field.
- Knowledge of best fundraising practices and proven track record of effectively applying them.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively convey information, thoughts, and ideas in verbal and written form with all levels of the organization as well as external contacts, including the ability to present and articulate the Girl Scout story.
- Strong editing eye when reviewing written work.
- Able to hear, reflect, act on, and learn from feedback regrading identity and equity.
- Strong computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Donor Database.
- Ability to align behavior with the needs, priorities, and goals of the organization.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and some weekends.
- Have daily access to dependable transportation, valid driver's license, compliance with the council's policy of automobile insurance limits, and a driving record that meets the requirements for coverage of the council's business auto insurance carrier.
- The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit and/or stand for long periods and operate office equipment manually. Sufficient strength to lift and carry up to 20 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to exercise discretion when handling potentially confidential or sensitive matters.
- Excellent time management skills; ability to take initiative to solve problems and work with a minimum of supervision and function well as a member of a team.
- Accurate, organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to work under pressure and shift priorities in response to changing needs.
Preferred Skills
- 4 years of demonstrated experience and proven effectiveness in professional fundraising including grant and/or annual fundraising work.
- Customer-service oriented with the skillset to communicate in a friendly and professional manner with a wide range of people.
- Proven track record of growing grant pipeline year over year.
- Experience of working with DonorPerfect.
- Experience working with Salesforce.
