Government Engagement Director, GE Turkey, GE International Markets

Role Summary:The position holder will lead and coordinate GEs Government engagement initiatives in Turkey across ministries not directly covered by BUs. He or she will advise on a broad range of governmental regulatory issues, and monitoring and advising GEs global leadership regarding Turkeys macroeconomic policy and regulatory issues that may affect GEs interests. He or she will represent GE at senior levels and interact with relevant third parties.

Essential Responsibilities:

+ Execute the mission of GE International Markets in Turkey and build strong stakeholder relationships, especially on the governmental level and across ministries not directly covered by GE businesses

+ Inform GE constituents, including GE corporate leadership regionally and globally, and GE business leaders, of macroeconomic policy and regulatory trends and developments, and coordinate with those constituents on the development and execution of GEs Government Engagement agenda to protect and secure business growth

+ Partner with GE businesses to develop and facilitate the execution of the business strategy in the local market, provide local market intelligence to the businesses and Country Leader of GEIM

+ Support GE Businesses in country to secure/improve market access leveraging expertise with government institutions and government decision-making procedures.

+ Share best practices, identify government subsidies and initiatives that could be beneficial to GE and its businesses

+ Identify and inform GE businesses about governmental and cross ministries (commercial) opportunities

+ Monitor public policy and provide timely geopolitical analysis

+ Keep a close partnership with dedicated Corporate functional leaders for GEIM

+ Support sales to governments by helping sales teams tailor GE bids to government needs, marshalling government support and advocacy for GE bids, and utilizing government financing

+ Provide expert advice on the workings of the government institutions and decision-making procedures and changes in government players


+ Graduate degree preferably in economics, law, political science, or public policy

+ Minimum 10 years of professional experience working on government affairs matters, including significant relevant experience with a government, global corporation and/or with an international law or consultancy firm

+ Deep knowledge of Turkey and its government institutions, regulations, policies, funding programs, and priorities

+ Strong understanding of the decision-making process and procedures, and strong relationships with government officials and influencers in Turkey

+ Demonstrated ability to think and lead on a strategic level within a complex organization

+ Previous experience in transactional support and funding programs would be a

significant advantage

+ Native in Turkish and Fluency in English are required

+ Proven ability to execute effectively on priority tasks and responsibilities, including linking details to broad outcomes

+ Ability to build excellent working relationships within a matrix environment at all levels of the organization

+ Advanced communication skills - both written and verbal

+ Ability to deal effectively with people and work in diverse multinational teams

+ Ability to anticipate trends and manage risk

+ Ability to motivate and inspire others
