Job Summary | The Pediatric Genetics & Metabolism service seeks a genetic counselor to support patients, families, and our vibrant team. The genetic counselor will join a genetic counseling team of three certified genetic counselors and a genetic counselor assistant. The person in this position will provide genetic counseling and education to pediatric and adult patients both independently and collaboratively with physicians and advanced practice providers in ambulatory and in-patient settings. Patients are seen in person and via telehealth. The genetic counselor will contribute to patient care coordination through referral triage, clinic preparation, and follow up planning. This role also involves interactions with professionals at UK HealthCare and the larger community to promote appropriate and equitable delivery of genetic services. The University of Kentucky considers the health, safety and well-being of our entire community to be a top priority. In alignment with this priority, all new hires must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or obtain an approved medical or religious exemption as a condition of employment. For areas that fall under the federal CMS mandate, start of employment cannot occur until two weeks after receiving the full COVID-19 vaccination series or upon obtaining an approved exemption. Only vaccines approved by the World Health Organization can be accepted. |
