Job Summary | The Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT) at the University of Kentucky seeks to hire a Faculty/Instructional Consultant. The applicant should have experience teaching in higher education, as well as working with faculty to integrate teaching strategies into their own programs and practices across the disciplines. The Faculty/Instructional Consultant will coach and advise faculty one-on-one, conduct workshops, facilitate learning communities, and collaborate with a larger team in designing large-scale, college and university-wide initiatives that reimagine learning goals in light of the changing landscape of higher education. The successful applicant will assume a leadership role in envisioning how pedagogy can be enhanced in both traditional and technology-enhanced environments at the University of Kentucky. In particular, the Faculty/Instructional Consultant will support faculty development for the University of Kentucky’s new Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP, a part of our University’s accreditation requirements) entitled “Transdisciplinary Educational Approaches to Advance Kentucky” (https://provost.uky.edu/quality-enhancement-plan-qep). In close collaboration with CELT leadership, the Faculty/Instructional Consultant will facilitate faculty learning communities and other programming for faculty across the disciplines who have been selected to participate in the QEP. The ideal candidate will have deep training, preferably a PhD or another terminal degree, in an academic discipline, specialization open. The appointment comes with the possibility of teaching in an academic discipline or other programs. Essential qualifications include: a demonstrated commitment to active learning; excellent writing, communication and public speaking skills; the ability to work effectively on a team; as well as a broad knowledge of the range of technological platforms and tools that can aid learning.
