What you will do

Let's do this. Let's change the world. In this vital role you will lead Amgen's commercial drug product technologies organization. You will be accountable for serving every patient every time by transforming drug product processes into reliable and efficient manufacturing operations using advanced scientific and engineering principles and deploying novel digital and manufacturing technologies. Specifically, the successful candidate will:
  • Provide technical leadership of commercial drug product programs to ensure supply, robust lifecycle management strategy, and regulatory engagement
  • Oversee DP process engineering team leading tech transfers across Amgen's clinical and commercial DP manufacturing network
  • Manage external DP contract manufacturing sites to ensure technical oversight of DP production and lead tech transfers and lifecycle changes at contract DP sites
  • Advance DP digital technologies and applied data science to enable continuous process monitoring for clinical and commercial products, data analytics, and annual product reviews
  • Establish and maintain partnership agreements with counterparts across Operations, including across Process Development, Quality, Regulatory, Clinical Supply and Commercial Manufacturing
  • Drive alignment of drug product development practices and initiatives across sites and phases of development
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions and technologies to resolve complex problems and drive continuous improvement in drug product manufacturing
  • Manage a high performing team and provide creative strategies to maximize team engagement and ensure team reaches full potential
  • Provide oversight and leadership of implementation of novel manufacturing technologies for increased reliability and efficiency
  • Serve as member of the Drug Product Technology (DPT) leadership team and extended Process Development leadership team utilizing network thinking and innovative approaches to advance the drug product organizational capabilities


What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications:
  • Doctorate Degree & 6 years of Process Development or Manufacturing experience OR
  • Master's Degree & 10 years of Process Development or Manufacturing experience OR
  • Bachelor's Degree & 12 years of Process Development or Manufacturing experience AND
  • 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. or equivalent in Engineering, Chemistry or Biological Sciences or related major and 14+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or related industry which includes leadership of scientific project teams and successful leadership of drug product project groups
  • Direct experience with drug product process engineering and manufacturing
  • Understanding and applied knowledge of regulatory requirements for the pharmaceutical industry (e.g. FDA, ICH, and USP guidelines)
  • Knowledge of liquid and lyophilization technologies and aseptic manufacturing
  • Knowledge of synthetic drug product technologies
  • Knowledge of drug product process engineering, scale-up, and tech transfer
