This position plays a key role in driving the agenda of the global cross-functional Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Team and continuing to mature Western Unions ESG practices. This leader will help advance Western Unions ESG work in three areas of increasing importance for Western Union and external stakeholders: strategy and performance, reporting and disclosures, and governance.

You will report to the Head of Corporate Affairs & ESG, and will manage the cross-functional ESG Working Group, along with partnering with senior executives, third-party agencies, and other internal and external ESG stakeholders.

You will work to advance Western Unions enterprise-wide ESG strategy, developing and maintaining an ESG dashboard for functional leaders and the executive team, driving continued target setting and reporting on progress, and supporting our annual greenhouse gas emissions inventory.

You'll lead the annual ESG reporting process, engaging internal ESG content owners and subject matter experts to publish our annual ESG report in alignment with key reporting frameworks such as SASB, GRI, and UN SDGs. You will also be responsible for drafting messaging and materials to educate and engage WU employees in our ESG initiatives.

To effectively manage ESG regulatory developments and data requirements that are rapidly increasing in complexity, the position is responsible for developing and implementing appropriate data controls and procedures to enhance ESG data integrity and streamline data submissions, reviews, and certifications.

Additionally, the role will monitor industry trends, best practices, and the global regulatory environment to inform future ESG disclosures, governance practices, and target-setting.

For such a driven role, you will have experience managing large, complex, and highly visible projects that require working across departments and teams, managing multiple priorities and timelines, and leading team efforts as necessary. You'll possess a positive and dynamic management style with the ability to mobilize and adjust priorities rapidly, attain buy-in from internal stakeholders, and navigate a complex organizational matrix. You will demonstrate an interest in ESG issues and trends and a strong willingness to advance your knowledge. You'll have excellent writing skills and experience creating content, decks, presentations, and communications materials to reach a variety of stakeholders. You'll be able to cultivate creative solutions to complex problems and environments, to think strategically and make clear and well-reasoned decisions, and to work independently as well as collaboratively is second nature to you. You will demonstrate strong and effective communication skills and possess an inherent sense of urgency. You will have a Bachelors degree and at least 10 years of experience in communications, program development, project management, and agency management as well as familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks. Prior experience in financial services will be a plus, as will international experience.Subject matter expertise related to ESG, sustainability, corporate responsibility, and/or diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) will be a strong plus.

The annual gross base salary range is 109,245-182,075 USD Annual. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. Actual salaries will vary and are based on factors such as a candidates qualifications, skills, and competencies. Salary is one component of the Western Union total compensation package, which includes short-term incentives, multiple health insurance options, accident and life insurance, and access to best-in-class development platforms, to name a few!
