Nobis has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer/Scientist to join the Environmental team in our Lowell, MA office to serve as an experienced project team member and/or field team task leader for the planning and/or performance of environmental engineering projects and hydrogeological calculations and analysis. Projects will involve assessment, characterization, investigation, design, remediation, and/or permitting at hazardous waste sites throughout the Northeast.

- Effectively collaborate with team members and others to execute assignments. Provides Technical support and direction to more junior staff members. Supports project manager with cost documentation for project and field work.
- Directs team members to effectively execute assignments, provides value to the project manager (effective management of subcontractors, preparing cost estimates, and leading the team to meet project objectives of schedule and budget), and shows strong organizational and managerial skills. Actively provides mentoring of work tasks to less experienced team members.
- Prepares, reviews, and modifies, as necessary, technical reports, specifications, plans, engineering calculations, engineering design drawings, construction schedules, and cost estimates for a project. Works with team members to complete environmental investigations and remediation projects, including sampling, drilling, and decontamination tasks.
- Reviews, evaluates, and provides interpretations on engineering design and environmental reports, maps, drawings, specifications, regulations, ordinances, permits, risk assessments, field test results, design manuals, aerial photographs, and other data necessary for environmental projects.
- Supports federally based projects at CERCLA/Superfund Site and DoD Facilities. Performs a wide range of environmental engineering or geological evaluations, prepares remedial designs (RDs). Will also support the implementation, management and reporting on remedial actions of hazardous waste sites.
- Maintains understanding of project financial issues including project budget, terms of agreement, changes in agreement scope of services, and billing process, and settlements.
- Visits project sites as needed and evaluates ongoing construction practices by meeting and talking with construction contractors and subcontractors, owners, regulators, and other consultants; and prepares written construction inspection and observation summaries.

- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from an accredited four-year college or university in science or engineering (e.g., Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Sciences, Earth Sciences, or related field) is required.
- Six (6) years minimum of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, is required.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Professional Geologist (P.G.) licensure is preferable.
- A Master of Science (M.S.) degree is favorable.
- Having or the ability to obtain Mass Licensed Site Professional (LSP), NJ Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP) or CT Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP) Certification is desirable.
- Knowledge and experience with State regulations in one or more of the following States is desirable: Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland or Delaware. Experience with Department of Defense (DoD), EPA Superfund and other Federal Agencies is preferable.
- Knowledge of Federal CERCLA/Superfund requirements for RI/FS, RD and RA is preferable.
