Job Description

The Head of Specialty Forecasting, leads a team of forecasting professionals, responsible for proactively providing branded product forecasts and actionable insights to the commercial organization that lead to achievement of strategic and financial goals. This leader is responsible for in-line, pre-launch, pipeline, life cycle and business development assessments for branded assets in US, Europe, and Growth Markets.

You will be an integral partner to regional and global commercial leadership and will implement processes, infrastructure, and governance within the organization to provide consistent, reliable asset evaluations, informing portfolio investment decisions.  In addition, the Head of Specialty Forecasting, is responsible for leading the business planning processes within the organization in collaboration with Finance and Commercial leadership.

 

You will be responsible for:

Leading a team who are responsible for developing, presenting, defending, and maintaining forecasts of products and markets with a high level of analytical insight, accuracy, and transparency.

Partnering with Marketing, Market Research, Market Access, Portfolio, Supply Chain, Sales Operations, and Trade Relations to deliver analytics and forecasts in support of quarterly updates, long-range planning, annual planning, product development milestones, portfolio prioritization, and business development assessments.

Effectively collaborating with a broad range of business colleagues (cross functionally and across geographies) to plan and execute accurate forecasts and business cases.

Leading cross-functional teams to determine appropriate forecast model designs, formulate key assumptions, and align with business partners.

Evaluating current approaches for informing forecast assumptions and develops and deploys recommendations and tools for standardizing approach based on best practices and external benchmarks.

Implementing harmonized forecasting methodologies, models, and approaches to provide transparency and alignment on assumptions and outputs.

Within each region, identifies and implements tactics to enhance forecasting capabilities and train regional personnel.

Implementing the use of advanced analytics (ie, monte carlo simulation, decision trees, probabilistic ranges, etc.) to inform key investment decisions.

Leading the Business Planning processes, ensuring alignment with Finance and Commercial Leadership.

Looking for opportunities to drive process improvement.

Focusing on people development to continue elevating overall team contributions to strategic decision-making within the organization.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in applicable discipline

MBA or other Advanced degree preferred

15+ years pharmaceutical experience; 8+ years forecasting/analytics experience; 5+ years of experience leading, managing and developing direct reports

Broad and diverse therapeutic category experience

Solid business knowledge to effectively pressure test and shape forecast assumptions

In-depth knowledge of forecasting techniques including patient level forecasts plus experience working with a variety of forecast models

Expert-level proficiency in Word, PPT and Excel

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Excellent written and communications skills (written, oral, and PPT)

Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Strong organization skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
