Job Description:

Amherst College invites applications for the Digital Projects Coordinator (Casual Position, No Benefits) position. The Digital Projects Coordinator is a part-time, one-year term position, with no benefits. The schedule is flexible and work can be completed remotely (all meetings are conducted during business hours EST). Given Amherst's distinction as one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country, the successful candidate will demonstrate the w ays in which they bring value to and will work towards supporting a broadly diverse community.

The digital projects coordinator will support the work of the Mead's digital projects team, composed of the curator of American Art and Art of the Americas, the Director and Chief Curator, and the Marketing & Public Programs Specialist. The Digital Projects Team is working to create online museum experiences for our remote audiences that animate the Mead's collections, exhibitions, academic programs and collaborations with the Amherst Center for Russian Culture. Our current slate of digital projects includes virtual exhibition tours, artist videos, interdisciplinary scholarly discussions, collaborative social media campaigns, virtual art-making workshops, and experimental programs. This position will collaborate with team members in Communications, Curatorial, and Education to design, implement, and evaluate an array of dynamic, inclusive, and accessible digital projects.
Summary of duties and responsibilities:
  • Project management
    • Create and track deadlines for digital projects
    • Maintain gantt charts and other organizational tools
  • Digital asset management
  • Internal and external image sourcing
  • Ensuring the accessibility of digital projects, including writing captions and alt-text
  • Communicating with Mead Museum and Amherst College staff, as well as vendors
  • Creating Zoom sessions for team meetings and virtual programming
  • Ensure calendar listings on website are up to date and correct
  • Reporting and evaluating key performance indicators for all virtual programs
  • Serve as a note-taker at meetings and recap with follow-ups and minutes
  • Strong interest or relevant experience in museums, digital programming, multimedia projects, and/or artist programming
  • Experience or interest in accessibility programming, including audio descriptions, alt-text, etc.
  • Administrative experience, preferably with a non-profit organization
  • Proven organizational skills with strong attention to details and the ability to follow-up and meet tight deadlines
  • Experience organizing events, meetings, and/or trainings, particularly those with virtual attendance
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with technology including using MS Office, Zoom, Google Docs, YouTube, Facebook, and other online platforms
  • Commitment to working with a diverse and inclusive community
  • Basic web-editing skills is a plus, but not required (HTML, drupal, WordPress)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects concurrently while working collaboratively as part of a team
  • Possesses flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities
