The Center for Learning Experimentation, Application, and Research (CLEAR) was initially established in 1998 as a service to assist faculty with the development and delivery of distributed learning at UNT. Since that time, CLEAR has expanded services to support all types of instruction at UNT. The Center combines technology resources with expert consultation and personnel in course design/redesign, assessment, pedagogy and many other topics in an effort to provide faculty with “one-stop” support for creating quality courses – regardless of the instructional delivery method.

The Division of Digital Strategy and Innovation is responsible for leading the university in the areas of educational technology, online and blended initiatives, and digital learning research serving students and faculty both on-campus and at a distance. Digital Strategy and Innovation collaborates with faculty, staff, and students across UNT’s academic and administrative units to ensure a world-class, 21st century institution, redefining public higher education through cutting-edge experimentation where the science of learning is the fulcrum that enables innovative, omnichannel, lifelong education for the North Texas community and learners across the globe.

Ensures that online courses designed with the assistance of CLEAR are accessible to students with a wide range of disabilities.

Performs accessibility testing and auditing of course content, which includes third-party websites, software applications, different document formats, multimedia, and Canvas content.

Writes up written remediation recommendations to faculty and staff to ensure course content follows WCAG 2.1 guidelines and is functionally accessible.

Works closely with the accessibility compliance team at CLEAR, as well as other units in CLEAR, to determine tasks and needs.

Delivers training to faculty, staff, and other stakeholders on campus on the accessibility of digital materials.

Works with vendors, CLEAR, and other units as needed to ensure procurement of ADA compliant products and to improve the accessibility of third-party products.

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education.

Demonstrable knowledge of UDL principles, WAI-ARIA and WCAG 2.1 guidelines, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and/or assistive technology.
