Required Education
Doctorate in counseling psychology, school psychology, quantitative and psychometric methods, or a closely-related field.
Required Related Experience
Administrative and/or leadership experience in higher education. Distinguished record of success for graduate-level teaching and mentoring, specifically doctoral dissertation committee chairing. Distinguished record of publication and research activity qualifying for tenure and promotion at a high research productivity university at the rank of Associate Professor with tenure or Professor with tenure. Demonstrated skills in program development, grant writing, and program reviews. Demonstrated success in working with diverse groups, team building, and cross collaborations within departmental programs and across departments. Demonstrated success with budgetary management, conflict resolution, and staff supervision. Experience securing extramural grant funding is highly desirable.
Required License/Registration/Certification
If background is School Psychology, preference will be given to candidates who are certified school psychologists and licensed psychologists or license-eligible in Kentucky. If background is counseling psychology, the candidate should be eligible for licensure in Kentucky.

The department offers seven graduate degree programs: MS and PhD in Counseling Psychology, EdS and PhD in School Psychology, MS and PhD in Educational Psychology, and PhD of Quantitative and Psychometric Methods. All programs are approved by The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). Our Counseling Psychology program is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association and our School Psychology program is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association and the National Association of School Psychologists. RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department Chair represents the department in college, university, and external strategic initiatives. As a tenured faculty member and member of the Counseling, School, or Quantitative and Psychometric Methods program areas, the department chair will be expected to engage in research (i.e., publishing and conference presenting, externally funded projects and proposals), teach graduate courses (with reduced teaching load), and mentor graduate students (i.e., serve as thesis/dissertation chair or committee member). Finally, the Department Chair is responsible for duties including, but not limited to: working with graduate program chairs in the recruitment, admissions, enrollment, and retention of students as well as programmatic assessment reports, working with/supervising the Department Support Specialist with course scheduling, faculty workloads, curriculum development, faculty recruitment and appointment; faculty/staff performance evaluation; working with College of Education staff regarding budgetary management, philanthropic efforts, marketing and social media/print advertisement of graduate programs; working with department faculty, students, staff, and postdocs on social justice/ diversity, equity, & inclusion initiative planning.
