We at Western Union are seeking a Country Director to be responsible for defining, executing the strategy, and overseeing business operations in Australia. You will work closely with the leadership team to ensure that our Australia market meets its goals for revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction.As a strategic leader, you will be appointed as a Board member of the Australian entity. You will be instrumental in managing the entity oversight and strategic planning. Supported by the companys governance framework, you will ensure the organization meets its compliance and legal obligations.

You will report to the Regional Vice President for Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands based in Sydney, Australia. You will occasionally travel within the Asia Pacific region and globally based on the companys needs.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute Western Union's strategic plan to grow the business in Australia and attain financial goals.

  • Analyze market trends and customer insights to drive business strategies and decisions. Presentation of findings & analysis to the executive team.

  • Maintain an informed view of industry players and ecosystems to understand and react to threats, opportunities, changes, and trends.

  • Define the highest ROI opportunities, gain executive buy-in, and help execute a roadmap that leads to revenue acceleration.

  • Manage top-priority initiatives that require cross-disciplinary and cross-functional implementation (across multiple groups and geographies). Drive alignment on priorities across key business functions.

  • Provide projected financial forecasts, both benefits (i.e., revenue/margin uplift, cost efficiencies) and costs (i.e., investments, resources) to implementing recommendations.

  • Develop and maintain relationships (including at C-suite level) with key stakeholders, regulators, partners, and customers.

  • Collaborate with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders to understand the objectives and customer benefits of new product features', to deliver on time and on budget.

  • Lead and motivate a high-performing team based in Australia to deliver exceptional customer experience.

  • Partner internally to design and implement processes and systems to improve organizational effectiveness and bring better organization and transparency to critical and strategic activities.

  • Manage ad hoc projects for the leadership team as needed.

  • Through continuous engagement build strong relationships with fintech and technology peers and key business stakeholders.

Role Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in the payments or cross-border transfers landscape within the Oceania market.

  • Proven track record in developing, executing, and managing strategy (including a P&L) and delivering financial results within the Oceania market.

  • Motivated about the purpose of the Brand and its mission.

  • Prior management experience of 25+ team members.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Intellectual curiosity, humility, and a willingness to learn from a wide range of people.

  • Experience in managing complex projects and leading cross-functional teams, customer-centric and hands-on mindset.

  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment with a high degree of autonomy.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively persuade senior leaders and colleagues at all levels of the organization.
