Coordinator, Education & Workforce, Maritime - Maritime Campus

Essential Job Functions:
  • Supports completion activities and workshops on degree plans and certifications.
  • Advises students in maritime programs and also refers them to college services as needed
  • Develop presentations and plans and implement new programs and workshops on campus designed to prepare students for working in the maritime industry.
  • Promote career development opportunities to commercial students in the maritime Industry sector
  • Develops activities designed to prepare students to be successful in applying for internships and being successful in those internships
  • Gathers and prepares reports on completion data, workforce success
  • Works with maritime industry students of various cultures, experiencing academic challenges, connecting them with services
  • Works with industry groups to assist regional efforts to grow the workforce for the maritime industry
  • Participates in college related activities such as community outreach, recruitment and student retention


Additional Job Functions:
  • Participates in cross district communication and engagement with faculty/staff/students
  • Participates in college/committees meetings, task force and councils
  • Participates in business and community activities that foster goodwill between the college and community


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Possess strong knowledge of student motivations, completion practices, interviewing, transfer, and maritime industry needs.
  • Manage numerous tasks simultaneously, and develop and complete new projects and programs under minimal supervision.
  • Work with a diverse population of students, alumni, and community members.
  • Interact effectively with college personnel and local maritime industry representatives
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to establish personal and professional credibility with both internal and external constituents.
  • Organize and implement change.
  • Behave in a considerate manner with others regardless of ethnicity, gender, age, disability, or beliefs.
  • Analyze and evaluate outcomes and effectiveness of projects/programs.
  • Generate and identify opportunities to improve present programs and/or operations.
  • Demonstrate determination to achieve objectives, particularly when subject to time/cost constraints.
  • Keep current on changes in technology and provide recommendations regarding the direction of the campus's strategic plan.
  • Meet deadlines for assigned reports and projects.

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution

Preferred Education:
  • Degree in education or maritime discipline preferred.

Required Experience:
  • 2 years experience working with college students or business/industry and other diverse settings required.

Preferred Experience:
  • Banner software experience preferred.
  • 3 years experience working with students toward pursuing higher education.
  • 3 years employment within an institution and/or system of Higher Education.


Salary Grade: 23

Salary is based on the Board-approved salary schedule for the current fiscal year. See Salary Schedule
