The Contract Development & Administration (CD&A) team, a part of USV&A, supports Amgen by supporting the Coverage and Pricing teams in developing and implementing customer contract strategy in order to assist Amgen in its mission to serve patients by enabling access to Amgen products. We are looking for a business professional who is an expert in translating complex discount strategies and structures, and details from language in legal documents.

The Manager position operates within a dynamic, business critical, environment and is primarily responsible for document creation and contract management of key Payer and/or Provider customer contracts from request to execution, managing contract data for owned accounts in our contract lifecycle management (CLM) database, data entry accuracy and ensuring the system reflects key terms in the executed final contract, and collaborating with cross-functional team members to ensure key controls in the contracting process are met.

Responsibilities include:
  • Drafting and editing agreements, amendments, notice letters and other contract documents;
  • Creating document language that accurately describes new programs, rebates and discount structures in the executed contract document;
  • Communicating with other functional components of the department on the operation and implementation of business unit strategies and participating in and supporting meetings to plan, provide feedback and anticipate the needs of the business unit;
  • Participation in the document management process, ongoing interaction with several cross-functional groups, including Legal, Government Programs, Pricing and Contract Operations.;
  • Project managing planned and ad-hoc special projects within Strategic Pricing and Contracting and U.S. Value & Access;
  • Researching and producing contract documents in support of internal and external audits and litigation;
  • Position also involves managing contract data in our CLM system, reporting activities and metrics to supervising director, managing customer document files, folders and templates, conducting document review meetings, communicating customer and contract document status and history to stakeholders and certifying that key process controls have been met.


Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree

OR
  • Master's degree and 2 years of commercial contracting, sales operations, finance and/or analytics experience

OR
  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of commercial contracting, sales operations, finance and/or analytics experience

OR
  • Associate's degree and 10 years of commercial contracting, sales operations, finance and/or analytics experience

OR
  • High school diploma / GED & 12 years of commercial contracting, sales operations, finance and/or analytics experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Legal document drafting experience in a dynamic environment, e.g. consulting firms, biotech, tech companies, etc.
  • Very strong computer & M/S Office skills; exceptional Word skills; strong administrative skills
  • Completes projects and makes decisions with minimal direction and strong ability to develop prioritization and completion timeframes for multiple assignments
  • High attention to detail/reporting accuracy
  • Project a positive, 'can do' attitude and eagerly contribute to all initiatives as needed and requested
  • Ability to prioritize competing interests and projects and manage a high volume of contract document requests
  • Team player, looks for ways to support team members
  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers
  • Ability to be nimble, take initiative, problem-solve, work independently and exercise appropriate business judgment. Interaction and strong communication skills with cross-functional teams is critical.
