The Opportunity

At Resource Development Associates (RDA), Consulting Managers work as members of project teams on a wide variety of issues including, but not limited to, evaluations, planning projects, and grant writing on public health, behavioral health, housing and homelessness, social services, workforce development, juvenile and criminal justice, and many other disciplines. For this opportunity, experience with Mental Health Services Act (MHSA), behavioral health, and substance use disorders is preferred. The Consulting Manager position is a mid-level management role and is upper level in our consulting career path, and can lead to other levels of employment.

What You Will Achieve in Your First Year

As a Consulting Manager, you will be at the center of our multidisciplinary teams, employing your analytical and creative thinking skills to deliver innovative and meaningful results for our clients. Project management, collaborating with others who bring different backgrounds, and supervising employees will be part of your daily routine. Every day and every project are different and we are constantly learning!

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously including the drafting of scopes of work as part of contract negotiations; delivery of scope of services including developing/implementing evaluation plans, data collection tools and data analysis; and developing client and community relationships in the following practice areas: strategic and systems change planning, grant writing, evaluation, organizational development.
  • Partner with executive team members on company initiatives, performance targets, and strategic priorities;
  • Communicate organizational objectives, policies, and priorities to team members; lead implementation of organizational policy among supervisees and department members
  • Be able and willing to undertake all aspects of project work that may include writing reports, collecting and analyzing data, developing plans, etc.
  • Assist in generating new business for RDA by responding to RFPs, developing client relationships, and participating in social media marketing efforts.
  • Maintain understanding of current State and Federal policy changes and their impact on services and systems at the local and state levels.
  • Ensure quality control on project deliverables.
  • Conduct best practice research and develop literature reviews regarding services/treatment.
  • Develop position papers, policy analyses, and organizational/community needs assessments.
  • Present at and facilitate large public meetings.
  • Mentor, supervise, develop individual growth plans, and prepare annual performance reviews for staff.
  • Participate and contribute to internal strategic planning processes in collaboration with other members of the team.

About You

  • Demonstrated commitment to social and economic justice and experience working with diverse communities.
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience in governmental or non-profit organizations in a management position directly supervising staff.
  • Advanced degree preferred in social work, psychology, sociology, public health, organizational development, health care services, public policy, social sciences, or related field; additional work experience may substitute.
  • Experience leading and participating in teams charged with evaluation, planning, and grant writing.
  • Experience supervising direct reports
  • Ability to understand both quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as a member or leader of a team.
