Job Summary

Clinical Facilitators work as part of the Advancing BEST Care Program. They are expected to skillfully work with groups of physicians and other health care professionals to understand and eliminate unnecessary variation in clinical practice, utilizing clinical best practices and consistency to improve quality of patient care. All facilitative and evaluative tasks must be undertaken objectively and dispassionately, while ensuring evidence is the primary guiding influence and that current policies, procedures and standards are respected.
As members of the Advancing BEST Care Program team, they remain consistent with a team throughout the lifecycle of initiatives (design through implementation). They lead new teams every 16 weeks as the program continues in future cycles.

Assumes direct responsibility for all deliverables and weekly monitoring (both qualitative and quantitative) of initiative core teams. Functions independently and provides key updates/information to initiative leaders and teams through both informal and formal communication channels. Assist teams with project work that includes any or all of the following: evidence review, data collection, engagement of all providers, meeting coordination and facilitation, verbal and written communications regarding team progress.

While non-clinicians serving in this role are expected to possess an understanding of healthcare practices, specific clinical training and credentials are not required for this role. Non-clinician Clinical Facilitators will be expected to consult with their clinician colleagues on the Advancing BEST Care Program team in situations where clinical acumen is required. Non-clinician Clinical Facilitators will however lead initiative teams through project work that includes any or all of the following: evidence review, data collection, engagement of all providers, meeting coordination and facilitation, verbal and written communications regarding team progress. They will also lead (and support the entire Advancing BEST Care Program team) conducting staffing analyses, process engineering, workflow analyses, optimizing department operations and process mapping. The background of Non-clinician Clinical Facilitators may include (but are not limited to) the fields of industrial engineering, healthcare finance, health system administration, healthcare informatics, data science, etc.

PhD in related field
Process-improvement experience
Lean/Six Sigma certification
Project Management Certification

Masters degree in a program with emphasis on or application to healthcare.
