The Department of Early Childhood, Special Education, and Counselor Education (EDSCE) in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a non-tenure track, clinical assistant/associate professor position in Special Education – Visual Impairments (VI) Program. The appointment is a nine-month appointment, effective August 16, 2021. The position is an annual appointment, renewable yearly, depending on the availability of state funding for the position.

Responsibilities include the following: Assist with curriculum development in the Teacher Preparation Program in Visual Impairments and Orientation and Mobility (O&M) programs, teach four-five courses per academic year, assist with summer institute in Louisville and Lexington (additional pay available), supervise practicum and interns, and provide technical assistance to local education agencies in Kentucky.

Required qualifications include current teaching certification or eligibility in visual impairments (VI); PhD or EdD in visual impairments, special education, or related field (ABD acceptable); and prior experience working with individuals with visual impairments. Preferred qualifications include ACVREP certification or eligibility in O&M, college teaching and supervision experience, experience with Distance Learning Technologies, and grant writing experience.
