**Job Description Summary**

The Biomedical Technologist will properly respond to service calls to evaluate, diagnose, repair and perform planned maintenance (PM) and drive customer satisfaction through Service Excellence.

Area is varied but includes current In-House Biomedical support at Kensington, Michael Garron and Scarborough Hospitals.

Due to Covid19 flexible location and hours of work may be required.

**Job Description**

**Position Responsibilities:**

+ Evaluate progressively complex, customer biomedical equipment issues, implement appropriate repairs; as assigned, perform planned maintenance (PM), safety, environmental inspections and maintain effective customer relations. Follow appropriate GE policies, procedures, hospital protocol and complete necessary documentation.

+ Maintain daily communications with customers as directed, to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to customer satisfaction. Implement GE / customer facility contract, supporting business goals and objectives.

+ Work as a member of local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within assigned area or region. Share on-call / pager responsibility.

+ Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule. Maintain approved parts inventory. Manage service delivery processes in compliance with GE policies.

+ Ensure proper care of spares, tools and test equipment and ensure calibration. Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment through formal instruction.

+ Comply with all required customer policies including Health and Human Services, Privacy, and Environment Health & Safety.

+ Perform other related duties as assigned including but not limited to active participation in customer committees.

**Minimum Education and Experience:**

+ Advanced Diploma in Biomedical Engineering Technology / Engineering (Min 3 year education).

+ Eligible for OR working towards, Certification by the International Certification Commission ( **ICC** ) as a CBET(c).

+ Ability to perform effective repair and planned maintenance on basic biomedical or electronic equipment, including but not restricted to:

+ Anesthesia equipment

+ Bedside and central monitoring

+ Biomedical equipment asset management system

+ Dialysis machines

+ Infusion pumps

+ Patient monitor information and database systems

+ Physiological measurement devices.

+ Basic Networking / IT infrastructure.

+ Experience using Mechanical Tools and understanding of basic mechanical problems.

+ Previous experience developing and maintaining good customer relationships.

+ A valid Ontario drivers license.
