Job Description

The Associate Directors primary role is to plan, develop, execute and optimize multi-channel strategies and plans for in-line US brands and Payer Marketing. This individual works closely with the US brand team/payer marketing, internal support functions and agency partners to manage all phases of execution for integrated multi-channel plans. The Associate Director also plays a key role in generating insights in order to drive ongoing optimization of brand campaigns and continual alignment of plans and strategies with brand objectives, goals and budgets. This role will manage one direct report and together support HCP and consumer marketing efforts for payer marketing initiatives.

  • Able to translate brand strategies into compelling Multi-Channel Marketing (MCM) plans driven by customer insights and analytics
  • Designs and champions an integrated multi-channel marketing and media strategy and tactical plan that is aligned to business objectives, maximizes brand relevance and value
  • Possess an in-depth understanding of the multiple channels of HCP and consumer/patient engagement utilized by an organization across their varied customers (i.e., HCP, consumer/patient, payer) including how the channels can be utilized effectively in an integrated fashion to deliver cross-channel customer journeys
  • Constant focus on enabling the best customer experience in every interaction and always providing a way for that customer to continue their conversation with the brand
  • Keen focus on developing targeted and actionable multi-channel measurement plans, selecting KPIs and setting goals, targets and measurement milestones that directly relate to business objectives
  • Reviews standard KPI reports to monitor performance of campaigns/tactics and conducts cross-agency campaign performance discussions
  • Have an active presence across all brand team activities including status meetings and planning sessions and be seen as an integral team member
  • Establishes strong business acumen by building and maintaining disease, market, and product knowledge including clear understanding of brand objectives, goals, campaigns, messages and strategies
  • Familiar with personas, brand strengths, opportunities, competitive challenges, and key attributes of the brand lifecycle to provide strategic guidance on optimal multi-channel engagement activities to drive growth based on specific brand and Business Unit needs
  • Works with brand and analytics team to provide input that defines/refines customer segmentation over time
  • Secure tactical approval through PARC (Medical, Legal, Regulatory review) and manage marketing budgets for owned projects
  • Influences the business approach to integrated multi-channel management through three key change management pillars; Alignment, Mindset, Capabilities
  • Gives guidance to brands around the importance and positive business impact of a truly integrated marketing approach across all channels and customer groups
  • Defends recommendations with confidence and continually educating others on best practices
  • Provides clear and firm direction to agencies and internal partners for channel mix selection, content development and tactical delivery
  • Work in a matrixed environment and successfully partner with cross functional teams, including brand teams and agency partners and ability to lead cross functional stakeholders (e.g., Brand, IT, MCM) and coordinate across teams to ensure projects continue to move forward
  • Monitor trends in digital, consumer marketing and evolving technologies to support strategic recommendations
  • Ensure legal/regulatory compliance and medical accuracy of marketing materials


Bachelors Degree in a related discipline
Minimum of 1 year of people management experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience with increasing responsibilities in data-driven marketing, CRM, and marketing automation
Strong communications and presentation skills
Brand, Multi-Channel, Digital marketing, and Strategic planning experience in the pharmaceutical industry is a must
Strong ability to build cross-functional consensus
Embedding multi-channel marketing strategy into brand strategies for new and existing commercial products
Proven experience in marketing automation and their application within Healthcare and key integration points across personal and non-personal channels.
Experience in working within a cross-functional team collaborating with colleagues in Regulatory, Legal, and Medical specifically for the purpose of developing and providing approved content to healthcare professionals and consumer/patients.

Proven and consistent experience in influencing without authority.
Ability to make sound business decisions by having a strong understanding about business, finance, and risks/benefits of decisions
Ability to inspire and empower others to be at their best and deals with corrective actions in a manner that inspires accountability
Ability to clearly and succinctly communicate (verbally/written) in a persuasive and appropriate manner at the director/senior director level
Ability to communicate, present, and influence credibly and effectively
Ability to adjust to changing priorities
Deep project management experience
Strong financial acumen

Approximately 15% domestic travel throughout the US.
