Position Summary:

Provide leadership of the Medical Information (MI) function, including oversight of the MI vendor and MI Call Center with development of appropriate response documents, management of escalations, and ability to collaborate effectively with other functional groups to achieve organizational objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides oversight and guidance to MI vendor on handling inquiries received by the MI Call Center and ensures accurate, balanced and timely responses to unsolicited medical information requests received
  • Manages contact center inquiry escalations and provide guidance to medical team members for specific requests that require escalation
  • Create and maintain FAQ and SRL documents for products in the market and pipeline
  • Coordinate with Medical Affairs colleagues, vendors and/or outsourced providers in the development, review and approval of medical information materials
  • Monitor scientific performance of medical information vendor against agreed procedures and quality metrics
  • Conduct quality review of cases logged by the MIC and identify continuous improvement opportunities in partnership with the vendor
  • Develops performance metrics for medical information; Utilize customer insights to identify information gaps in the available medical information materials
  • Monitor the medical literature for additional sources of product information and content for medical information materials
  • Ensure compliance with Acadia policies and procedures
  • Work cross-functionally with other Call Center teams and with other departments such as Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Quality and Pharmacovigilance to ensure alignment of medical information materials
  • Identify, analyze, and report trends and insights to cross-functional brand teams and upper management
  • Provide disease state and product training to MI team members either directly or through other medical affairs personnel

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • PharmD, PhD or BSN, RN, variation of education and work experience would be considered
  • At least 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry including in Medical Information and ability to demonstrate knowledge of Medical Information function
  • Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology, drug names/classes, clinical and pharmaceutical aspects of medicines
  • Broad understanding of diseases and pharmacotherapy; specific disease state and pharmacotherapy knowledge of the central nervous system (CNS) is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Medical Information creation and delivery including ability to evaluate information from multiple sources
  • Excellent writing and communication skills; fluency in both spoken and written English

Scope:

Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in create and effective ways, exercising judgement in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires and in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk or hear in a standard office environment and independently from remote locations. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
