Position Summary

**This is a Full Time Temporary Position**

Reporting to the Director of IT Ops, the Associate Director of IT Ops role provides technology leadership in the planning, architecture, deployment, and management of essential IT Ops and Infrastructure as well as projects including but not limited to network infrastructure, storage, servers, database, cloud computing, data center, disaster recovery, security, telecommunications, and vendor management. The ideal candidate should bring experience working in infrastructure including cloud/XaaS exposure and in introducing new technologies and change in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate is a hard-working and dedicated individual with experience and ability to architect, define, design and implement all required systems to fully support the needs of the organization.

The Associate Director of IT Ops will help design and maintain the organization's infrastructure and security. They will also provide expert guidance and direct support ensuring the availability, integrity and security of the network, server and workstation environment, backups and disaster recovery, telecommunications, on premise and cloud computing, including Tier 2 helpdesk support.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
  • Responsible for helping engineer and administer the data centers, networks, databases, storage, system administration, and client engineering.
  • Develops, implements and maintains corporate datacenters, private and public cloud, and engineering infrastructure.
  • Ensures reliability and availability of all the hardware environment supporting business operations.
  • Works with the Director of IT Ops to identify, define, and prioritize IT investments required to meet the strategic objectives of the company.
  • Helps set priorities for the design, maintenance development and evaluation of all infrastructure systems and areas, including; network, data, hardware, services, security, etc.
  • Provides infrastructure project management for projects including those internal projects, projects managed via SOW and third party. Ensures the projects are delivered to scope, timeline, and budget. Manages projects, vendors and communications as well as act as liaison with key business partners.
  • Monitors the development, design/architecture, installation, analysis, and on-going improvement of the information technology infrastructure.
  • Helps conduct proper technology roadmap, market analysis to develop long-range plans designed to maintain cost effectiveness and competitiveness of the company's IT infrastructure.
  • Manages Global IT Assets including software and hardware within infrastructure operation areas including the full lifecycle management of IT equipment. Responsible for IT software true-up reporting processes to vendors.
  • Measures and tracks performance to achieve target deliverables. Identifies opportunities to improve infrastructure efficiency.
  • Helps develop, implement, and maintain the enforcement of IT Infrastructure policies, procedures, and associated plans.
  • Remains current with the latest technologies and solutions.
  • Budget planning and forecasting and managing expenses to plan.


Minimum Required:

10 Years related experience


BA/BS degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Science/Mathematics or related field


Minimum Required:

5+ years of Information technology related experience in Life science industry.

Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure technologies and SaaS

5+ Years: Demonstrated leadership in high paced IT Departments


5+ years managing IT projects execution, particularly in Pharmaceutical Industry

Advanced knowledge of GxP regulations related to CSV including 21 CFR Part 11, and GAMP standards

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Minimum Required:
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills. (high emotional intelligence)
  • Familiarity conducting vulnerability scans.
  • Negotiation skills and ability to manage to tight budgets.
  • Excellent business acumen and strategic thinking.
  • Experience with implementing business continuity and disaster recovery programs
  • Experience administering the system functions including security policies and account management of Microsoft Windows and Server as well as Linux/Unix-based systems.
  • Ability to multi-task in an ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems creatively to ensure satisfactory user experience.
  • A positive, "can do" attitude and flexibility

  • Cloud hosting & SaaS administration experience.
  • Expertise in writing/reviewing SOP's, GAMP 5 deliverables, validation packages, etc.
  • Ability to foster and cultivate relationships within and outside the IT department.
