Administrative Analyst Specialist

NSS Dean’s Office


Salary Range: $3,288 - $6,347/Monthly


Work Schedule: Full-time; Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; non-exempt classification. Temporary appointment expires on/or before one year from date of hire. Appointment may be extended, may become permanent.

Essential Job Functions: Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean of the College of Natural and Social Sciences (NSS), the incumbent organizes and performs a variety of complex and administrative work requiring extensive knowledge of policy and operational and university procedures. Responsibilities require extensive faculty, staff, and administrator contact. The incumbent will: serve as the principal College scheduler; independently provide problem solving techniques and skills in investigating, evaluating, and analyzing problems in curriculum when it affects scheduling of courses; serve as the coordinator for the NSS 1001 courses; process hiring paperwork for faculty; issue permits; and order textbooks; review and correct APDB and term workload problems on GET; maintain the Associate Dean’s calendar; schedule appointments and meetings; make travel arrangements; coordinate the entire lecturer evaluation process: and serve as the recording secretary for the Outstanding Lecturer committee.


Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent training and two years of full-time administrative work experience involving study, analysis and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs. Must be proficient in data handling with a high level of quantitative reasoning skills; competence in all standard Microsoft software components; be a problem-solver; demonstrated competence using independent judgment; and possess an excellent command of both spoken and written English, including grammar. Ability to: independently compose documents, letters, announcements, and public relations documents; organize and plan work projects including handling multiple priorities; maintain a high level of discretion; and ability to appropriately handle highly confidential documents and situations, including handling difficult people and situations with poise and patience. Demonstrated ability and interest in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.   Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.

Desired Qualifications: Experience scheduling classes; faculty retention, tenure and promotions (RTP) process.
