Job Summary | The Department of Pharmacology and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine invites applications for faculty at the Research Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will conduct and help coordinate NIH-funded projects and participate in the submission of new grants. The successful candidate should have expertise in the area of diabetes/obesity and cardiovascular diseases. Expertise in carbohydrate and lipid metabolism is highly desirable. Applicants should have a PhD and/or MD, or equivalent degree, a track-record of sustained scientific accomplishment, and potential for extramural funding. The Department of Pharmacology and Nutritional Sciences is a unique department with a multidisciplinary faculty positioned for opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. The department’s teaching mission is dedicated to providing instruction to professional medical and dental students, graduate and undergraduate students. The College takes pride in interdisciplinary programs in diabetes/obesity, cardiovascular, neurosciences, toxicology, and cancer-related diseases and is committed to maintaining ongoing interactions and fostering new collaborations across clinical and basic science departments. In addition, the University of Kentucky is also home to a CTSA-supported Center for Clinical and Translational Science, the Saha Cardiovascular Research Center, Barnstable Brown Diabetes Center, Sanders-Brown Center on Aging the Kentucky Neuroscience Institute, and the Markey Cancer Center. Membership in these centers offers further opportunities for basic science and clinical faculty to establish collaborative and translationally relevant research programs.
