The position: The Department of Landscape Architecture (College of Agriculture, Food and Environment) at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a 12-month, tenure-eligible faculty position in the regular title series at the rank of assistant professor. The successful candidate will bring a teaching and research agenda with an intellectual focus on geospatial analysis and data representation integrated into the landscape architectural design process at a range of scales. Complements to this focus area could include teaching and scholarship in digital design visualization, landscape modeling, or digital communication strategies. The new faculty colleague will teach in the design studio sequence in landscape architecture, along with geospatial/digital graphics theory/methods/applications courses available to landscape architecture students and closely related majors. Scholarship in this position could center on innovation in methods, novel applications of geospatial and other techniques, applied research, or environmental design issues whose investigation involves geospatial analysis. This position has an expected distribution of effort (DoE) of approximately 65% instruction, 30% research/extension, and 5% service. Expected service includes participation in our College’s Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences Steering Committee. The Department seeks a colleague with professional practice experience who can demonstrate the potential for success in a land grant university environment through teaching, research, and service to the university, profession, and public. Development of a documented record of scholarly productivity through peer-reviewed publications or creative works, along with external funding for research, is essential for promotion and tenure.
