Job Summary
The Department of Early Childhood, Special Education, and Counselor Education (EDSCE) in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a tenure track, assistant professor position in Special Education.  This regular title series faculty member will provide expertise in support of teaching methods for learning disabilities in the special education program across elementary, middle, and secondary school levels.  The assistant professor will also contribute to the climate of diversity and inclusion in special education through her/his/their scholarship.  

The appointment is a nine-month appointment, effective January 16th, 2022 or August 15, 2022.  Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.  Responsibilities include the following:  Teach two courses each semester (fall and spring); maintain an active line of research relevant to special education (e.g., peer reviewed publications, grant proposals, presentations); advise current and incoming students; engage with P-12 and university faculty in program planning, implementation, and evaluation; ensure innovative programs comply with accreditation and state standards; serve on masters and doctoral committees; and provide service to the department, college, university, and profession. 
 
Qualifications include an earned doctorate in special education prior to start date, experience as a P-12 special educator with a focus in high incidence disabilities (e.g., mild/moderate, Learning Disabilities), a commitment to innovative inclusive education, effective collaboration with P-12 partners in education, evidence of positively impacting student growth and achievement reflective of diversity, equity, and inclusion.  The ideal candidate will possess training in teaching methods for students with learning disabilities and literacy.
