Job Summary | The Biomotion laboratory at the University of Kentucky (https://www.uky.edu/chs/research/biomotion) has an exciting opportunity for an individual interested in lower extremity orthopedic and sports injuries. Our work centers around uncovering mechanisms for protracted impairments following injuries and developing novel therapeutic interventions. We use a variety of techniques ranging from magnetic resonance imaging to 3D biomechanics. The person in this position must have a Ph.D. and preferably post doctoral research experience in lower extremity biomechanics, biomedical engineering, musculoskeletal imaging (MRI) or related field as well as have strong written, oral, and programming skills (Matlab, visual 3D). We seek an individual who will provide complementary expertise in the areas of biomedical engineering, image analysis, and/or lower extremity biomechanics. The person in this position should be passionate about orthopedic research, enjoy being part of a diverse team of clinicians and scientists, and is committed to developing as an independent funded research agenda. The Biomotion laboratory is funded through grants with the NIH, DOD, and foundations. There are numerous opportunities for collaboration, professional growth, and development on our team. We provide individual mentorship and work closely with both the Departments of Physical Therapy and Orthopedic Surgery. We strive to foster an inclusive community of people passionate about how to best improve outcomes for individuals with knee injuries. The Biomotion laboratory is well equipped with everything needed for biomechanics research, contains its own physical therapy clinic, clinical space, and access to a research 3T MRI unit. Lexington is a beautiful city situated in the rolling foot hills of the bluegrass region of Kentucky. There are numerous outdoor activities ranging from, trail running, climbing, caving and kayaking, all within an hour’s drive. Lexington also has a rich cultural environment with a strong arts and music scene. Additionally, Lexington benefits from a very reasonable cost of living and temperate weather.
