The Department of Integrated Strategic Communication in the College of Communication and Information at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level with an anticipated start date of August 2021.

Qualifications/Responsibilities:
This position requires superior classroom teaching and curriculum development and typically carries a three-course per semester teaching load. Research and creative activities tied to the ISC profession are also considered for promotion and granting of tenure. A Ph.D. or terminal degree in an appropriate field is preferred, but applicants with a master’s degree and at least 10 years of significant professional experience related to ISC will be considered.

The successful candidate initially would teach creative strategies, tactics, techniques, and visual communication to undergraduate ISC-major students. Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite programs is essential, and the ability to teach particular subjects, such as copywriting, art direction, design, digital storytelling, web design, content marketing, branding, digital publishing, also would be especially valued.

As part of regular duties, the new faculty member would serve as an academic advisor to undergraduate ISC students and would participate in the department’s governance and service. Graduate teaching opportunities may also be available for qualified applicants. ISC faculty are encouraged to propose and teach special-topics courses that take advantage of personal interests and experiences in the field.

Our growing ISC department, with 12 full-time faculty members and about 600 students, has been a leader in offering an integrated and strategic approach to advertising, sales promotion, public relations, direct response, and interactive or socially mediated communications.

About the College:
The College of Communication and Information is composed of two schools (The School of Journalism and Media, School of Information Science), two departments (Department of Communication, Department of Integrated Strategic Communication) and an interdisciplinary graduate program. Nearly 1,700 undergraduate majors and 350 graduate students are led by more than 80 full-time faculty, who also teach in the university’s core curriculum and serve students perusing minors and certificates in the College. The College also houses UK’s independent student newspaper, The Kentucky Kernel, and the defending national championship Intercollegiate Debate Team.
