The area of research specialization is open, but we are particularly interested in candidates whose work is engaged with 20th and 21st century music and methodologies, and who have experience teaching in some combination of the following: jazz, popular music and/or dance, the expressive cultures of Africa and/or the African Diaspora, and core classes in African American and/or Africana Studies. We seek interdisciplinary candidates whose research centers on the Black experience in fields such as African American Studies, African Studies, Africana Studies, Cultural Studies, Anthropology, Colonial and/or Postcolonial Studies, Performance Studies, Gender Studies, and Sound and Visual Studies. Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Teaching and service will be shared with AAAS and the School of Music.
